Chief Administrative Officer and Supervising Portfolio Manager


SCOPE

The Chief Administrative Officer will operate our company’s discretionary managed account platform. The platform comprises of a burgeoning Separately Managed Account program as well as the Advisor Managed Retail program and Institutional Discretionary Account program. The Chief Administrative Officer will also supervise the Firm’s product shelf.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop policies and procedures related to the operation and supervision of our Advisor Managed Retail program and our Advisor Fund Program
  • Approve the opening of Managed Accounts as a Designated Supervisor
  • Supervise, monitor and train Advisors with regards to Portfolio Management Systems
  • Manage the regulatory obligation of direct supervision over Associate Portfolio Managers to ensure they develop appropriate standards and systems
  • Meet all CIRO requirements relating to the management and supervision of Managed Accounts
  • Provide written supervisory reports that exceed regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and supervision of the feedback to Advisors regarding the Compliance of their Managed Accounts
  • Work closely with Director of Products & Portfolio Management to manage overall responsibility of the Firm’s product shelf, including OM-based funds, and supervise new product approval/requests.
  • Work collaboratively with the Managing Director of Operations for the Firm
  • Interact with service providers for modelling software, research and trading.
  • Supervise option strategies used within the firm
  • Monitor third party Managers and expand the SMA program where appropriate
  • Monitor and Supervise adherence to our Advisor Fund program and work with the service providers
  • Supervise and direct and mentor staff

Professional Designation:

  • Successful completion of the proficiency requirements for a supervisor including but not limited to Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, Branch Managers Course and/or IDSC, CFA or CIM

Work Experience:

  • Experience with CIRO systems (Trading, Reporting etc)
  • Experience with Portfolio Management/Bulk Trading systems and operations
  • Relevant CIRO proficiency requirements to be able to supervise Options Trading
  • Strong operational experience operating in an CIRO environment as a Designated Supervisor for Managed Accounts
  • Relevant proficiency requirements for insurance supervision are highly desired
